Welcome to Gauteng Institute for Architecture
The Gauteng Institute for Architecture is one of the oldest architectural organizations in South Africa, founded in 1900 as the Transvaal Institute of Architects. We are a voluntary association affiliated to the South African Institute of Architects and recognised by the South African Council for the Architectural Profession.
What is Architecture?
At its simplest, architecture is the design of buildings, groups of buildings and often the space between buildings. But the scope of architecture goes well beyond just the drawing of plans.
Architecture takes imagination; the ability to order ideas and communicate them clearly; creativity (not necessarily artistic ability); a keen interest in human behaviour, our habitat and the natural environment; and problem-solving skills.
The successful incumbent will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in stages 3 to 6 and have solid exposure in working with Contractors/On-Site.
In this exciting position, you will be involved in the architectural design and technical aspects of projects, from initiation to concept development and construction.

GIfA aims to create a transformed and united profession by promoting and representing all built environment professionals in Gauteng. We are in partnership with The City of Johannesburg and other local government structures to further promote a united vision of the city and to provide architectural expertise where required.
