Work Despite Borders

Gauteng Institute for Architecture (GIfA), warmly invites you to join us for an online presentation and open discussion on the theme: “Work Despite Borders”: an exploration born from real-world practice across geographies, disciplines, and systems, calling us to rethink how we work, create, and collaborate in a divided, yet deeply connected world.

What We'll Explore

·         As a basis, the topic will consider the obvious geographic, economic an cultural boundaries that architects work within.

·         The theme will then be expanded into non-geographical borders and into the borders of assumptions, borders of culture, borders of knowledge, borders of fear, borders of the mind.

·         Ending in a discussion around the relevance of these ideas to professionals, educators, creators, and thinkers in the field; there is a very limited range of models of practice to refer to, and our struggling South African economy needs some new thinking to emerge.
