About the event

GIfA Invites you to join the Book discussion about Neil Aggett

The book discussion will be about:  The work done for the Inquest in relation to the analysis of the use of John  Vorster Square where the architecture of Apartheid – of segregation and control was deliberately subverted to accommodate an architecture of control and terror.

Neil Aggett Inquest research Book:

Forensic Architecture is the practice of using architectural techniques to investigate cases of state violence and violations of human rights.

In the case of the re-opened Neil Aggett case, this practice was applied by Savage+ Dodd Architects to investigate and interrogate the spaces within John Vorster Square.

Neil Aggett, a medical doctor allegedly committed suicide whilst in police custody in John Vorster Square in 1982 after being held for 70 days in detention without trial.
