Navigating the National Heritage Resources Act
The National Heritage Resources Act governs all of South Africa’s built heritage but is often misunderstood. This talk, by heritage architects Yasmin Mayat and Brendan Hart, aims to explain and demystify the Act, the identification of heritage buildings, and the making of applications to the Provincial Heritage Resources Authority Gauteng (PHRAG).

Yasmin Mayat and Brendan Hart are architects and heritage practitioners. They founded Mayat Hart Architects in 2012. Mayat Hart Architects' work combines architecture, research, conservation, and advocacy with considered projects that aim to respond to the rich and complex architectural and social history of the country. The practice's portfolio of projects and research has been widely published and has won numerous awards.
