About the event
In an era where architecture is increasingly globalised, the question of identity has never been more urgent. How do we design spaces that not only function, but resonate, spaces that reflect who we are, where we come from, and the knowledge systems that have shaped us?
Join GIfA for a thought-provoking session exploring the powerful intersection of cultural identity, heritage, and contemporary architectural practice. Guided by acclaimed architect Fanuel Motsepe, this presentation will unpack how indigenous knowledge systems and African narratives can inform, enrich, and redefine design approaches across the continent.
Set against a striking visual narrative of landscape and human presence, the event calls attention to four defining pillars, Heritage, Continuity, Belonging, and Innovation, urging practitioners to critically engage with their role in shaping a built environment that is both rooted and forward-looking.
