About the event
About Creating Coromandel: Marco Zanuso in South Africa:
This monograph explores the decade long Marco Zanuso in South Africa partnership between Milanese architect and designer Marco Zanuso (1916–2001) and the South African fashion retailers Sydney Arnold Press (1919–97) and Victoria de Luria Press (1927–2015), whose shared passion for design spurred them to create the enigmatic Coromandel House (1975), set within their scenic farm, as well as their business headquarters, Edgardale (1978) in Johannesburg.
About Hidden Pretoria:
Based on extensive fieldwork and research, Hidden Pretoria is systematic documentation, analysis, and interpretation of architectural heritage sites within the City of Tshwane. The project highlights a selection of notable buildings that embody the cultural and social heritage of Pretoria and its citizens. In words and photographs, Johan Swart and Alain Proust illuminate buildings, monuments, and spaces that represent the development of Pretoria from its early days as the capital of the ZAR to its current prominence in our new democracy.
