Throughout our architectural education, we are taught that Design a neutral endeavour. But my architectural career has taught me otherwise - that buildings are shaped by our lived experiences, our personal insights, and the space we emerge from.

This talk traces parts of that journey and how it influences the work at Lemon Pebble Architects and Urban Designers, where we try to use ‘ Repair ‘ as a tool in an attempt to restore dignity, agency, and memory and to create reparative continuity in contested spaces.

About our speaker

Arch. Tanzeem Razak is the director and founding partner of the practice Lemon Pebble Architects and Urban Designers in Johannesburg. Tanzeem graduated from the University of Witwatersrand with a BArch and an MArch (Magna Cumme Laude) in Human Settlements from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
