Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) is increasingly becoming a key feature of South African urbanism; mirroring and translating global trends. This demands an exploration the thematic, political and material implications of TOD policy directives.

As part of the launch of the new research report series on Spatial Transformation through Transit-Oriented Development in Johannesburg, with the City of Joburg and the French Development Agency, the NRF Research Chair in Spatial Analysis and City Planning (SA&CP) is hosting a colloquium on this topic on the morning of 3 August.

The colloquium will examine TOD in South Africa – including the Corridors of Freedom – from local and global perspectives. We welcome contributions from researchers working in this burgeoning field.

Please send your 200 word abstracts by Friday 21 July to spatialtransformation@gmail.com. If you have any queries, please contact Alli Appelbaum – alexandra.appelbaum@wits.ac.za
